That's the entire point of the asymmetric hem. It breaks the volume of the top into layers, so the eye reads "cut this way on purpose" instead of "sized up by accident." The drape is doing the styling for you.
The top is cut generously oversized by design — that's not a sizing risk, it's the silhouette. The inner short runs true to size and fitted, giving the set its structure. If you're between sizes on the short, size up for a more relaxed leg.
